Events

In order to keep RP life thoroughly enjoyable and varied on the forum, there will be special events hosted over the course of the roleplay. Some of these may have direct connection to main plot, others may have no connection at all. There's a multitude of breeding, hunting, gathering, showing, and seasonal events that may pop up during the year on the site. For the most part, these events are lead by administrators, but it is encouraged that members participate in them if possible. There are some permits, badges, and titles you can only get during certain events! If you don't participate in that event when it pops up, you must wait for the next event containing that reward to pop up. There may be multiple events going on at one time. Events are RPed separately from the main plot, so even if a character is involved in the main storyline or side roleplays they may still participate in the event.

If you wish to obtain an event only item with multiple characters, you must participate with those characters separately. Event items are not given out by an account basis but by a character basis. You may space this out between different events, but it is important to keep this in mind when planning participation. If you have any ideas for events, please do let us know! We would love to hear them.

Egg Runs

The military actively breeds large carnivores for it's own purposes, but it's near impossible to maintain multiple breeding pairs. As a result of this, the military breeding facility only keeps 2-3 breeding pairs of each large species. While the individuals in these pairs are rotated whenever possible to increase genetic diversity in their offspring, their clutches are few, small, and their lifespans are limited. To circumvent this issue, the military will sometimes commission established hunters to steal wild carnivore eggs so they can keep a healthy breeding pool. It is uncommon to take more than one or two eggs from the same nest and so multiple nests in multiple regions must be visted to ensure a fair amount of genes are gathered. This is extremely dangerous work, especially if the parent dinosaur finds out. Death and severe injury are not uncommon during these quests and some refuse to partake in them as a result. Those who successfully do and return home have their notoriety significantly increased.

Requirements: All participating characters must own a Silver Hunting Permit or higher.
Event Only Reward: ?????? (halp here Entiderp?)

Military Recruitment

Along with breeding carnivores, the military actively looks for new additions to it's dinosaur forces. It is enjoyable work to train with these mighty beasts, but also very risky as military dinosaurs are incredibly volatile species. They wish to make recruits aware of this and will only accept the very best. In order to test hopeful prospects, they will host recruiting seminars. These will involve a trained military-grade dinosaur, typically a large carnivore, whom the recruits must try and bond with in a limited time frame. Injuries are common, although severe maulings and death are rare, leading many to try their luck. The successful ones will be given a military training permit an allowed to progress further with a military trainer career.

This event is one of two that are entirely chance based*. Before the event, players will enter their characters into it. A pre-determined success chance will be given, normally 20% or lower depending on the ambassador dinosaur chosen, and players will then pick a number, typically between 1 and 10, for each of their characters entering. Those numbers will then be run through a random number generator. If a player successfully guesses a number in the "pass" tier, (i.e. 1-2 for 20%), they will then be able to RP that character successfully completing the objective. If they don't guess correctly, they will then have to RP their character failing the objective. The same character may try to pass in this event each time it comes up should they not succeed. Odds will be randomized and not influenced by Administrators at all.

Requirements: Each character must have completed basic military training and passed a physical boot camp. This can be implied and doesn't need to be roleplayed out.
Event Only Reward: Chance at a Military Basic Permit and a military trainer career path for the involved character.

Elite Hunter Test

Hunters in Zenith are ranked by the permit level they own. Most of the well established hunters own a silver, but the most elite own a gold permit. In order to get one of those coveted pieces of paper, they must pass a grueling test. Success will depend highly on the likelihood of your bond with your animal and prowess as a hunter. It is quite rare that the head hunting organization even allows this test to be conducted, so many try their hand at it when it becomes available. Due to the instructor's severe pickiness, success chances are extremely low, but prestige pushes the best to try their luck and see if they can appease her enough to receive their Gold permit.

This event is one of two that are entirely chance based*. Before the event, players will enter their characters into it. A pre-determined success chance will be given, normally 10% or lower depending on the instructor's predetermined mood the day of the test, and players will then pick a number, typically between 1 and 10, for each of their characters entering. Those numbers will then be run through a random number generator. If a player successfully guesses a number in the "pass" tier, (i.e. 1 for 10%), they will then be able to RP that character successfully completing the objective. If they don't guess correctly, they will then have to RP their character failing the objective. The same character may try to pass in this event each time it comes up should they not succeed. Odds will be randomized and not influenced by Administrators at all.

Requirements: All participating characters must already own a Silver Hunting Permit and be successfully bonded with one hunting dinosaur.
Event Only Reward: Chance at a Gold Hunting Permit.

* [Event Quests Probability] entirely chance based. - These quests are meant to be fun and random while keeping some parts of Zenith life rare and sought-after. Administrators will do their best to ensure these quests are as fair and unbiased as possible. If a member argues with an administrator over their randomized outcome and/or knowingly choses to roleplay a successful outcome when they received a failed one, they will be completely banned from participating in these events at all with any of their remaining characters. It will be a non-arguable ban and may possibly extend into a site ban if necessary. You will have chances when the event returns to try again if you fail, so forcibly guaranteeing success will not get you anywhere but placed in the corner... permanently.
